We were nearing the end of autumnal blusters and approaching the rainy winter chill when I headed out of work one Monday afternoon and picked up my daughter from school. When we got home, she commenced her studies while I made myself a nice snack.
We had a box of scalloped rosemary crackers expertly decorated with salt. And while these crackers tasted quite nice on their own, they required some adornment. Luckily there was a block of sharp cheddar cheese in the refrigerator that I had purchased the previous Saturday for no reason other than the universe told me to. Now I knew why. Crackers and cheese, what a brilliant idea.
I grabbed a small white plate, a knife, and the cheese and excitedly composed my tidbit. The end product was eight rectangular pieces of sharp cheddar and eight scalloped rosemary crackers on a white plate. Without the help of the knife, I turned the eight rectangular pieces of cheese into sixteen pieces of smaller rectangles to get better cheese coverage on the crackers.
The snack was ready to be eaten and so I ate it while I watched the raindrops fall outside of my kitchen window.
